I have had MANY freshwater tanks in the past. After waiting for quite a long time I'm going to be setting up an Oceanic 29. The reason for a Nano tank is I have limited space to a larger tank. I'm very curious and interested in hearing from others who have or had one of these tanks. Do you have any pointers that may help me out? I don't have the tank in hand yet. Right now I'm trying to learn as much as I can before I jump in with both feet. I have lots of other questions but I want to start at the beginning. I also need to figure out cycling, fish compatbility and corals. I have been reading older posts for the past couple of days and have learned quite a bit of info there.

At the top of the new Hobbyists section you will see a thread titled 101 tips...read that to get a good understanding of how to start up. Then ask your questions, we are happy to help. Mostly you may find us frustrated if you ask for help and then ignor advice...but we get over it. There are no stupid questions.

I also started with freshwater tanks...about 30+ years before I got up my nerve to try saltwater. I wish I had done it years and years ago. I was 40 before I made the change. I just love saltwater fish and I know you will too.

Worry about tank set up for now, and we will be happy to guide you on the fish choices later on...I see you already are thinking about corals...they require really good lights.

Welcome to the forums, I hope you enjoy your stay. This forum is a great place for people to start a saltwater aquarium, we have a great community here.

As Flower has said, you should read the tips and tricks thread in the new hobbyist forum. The more research you do now, the more time and money you will save in the future. Even with research, expect to spend quite a bit more than what you would on a freshwater tank. Regardless, it's a great hobby to get into, and very satisfying on so many levels.
