So I upgraded my lighting FROM:
1x 175w mh 15000k
1x 54w t5 daylight
1x 54w t5 actanic
TO:
2x 150w kessil led 15000k "ocean blue"
1x 54w t5 daylight
I loovveeee my new lights! But they do have their pros and cons (as everything in life does)<<br />
the good:
-Color is breath taking! Im seeing colors I never even knew were in my corals.
-My corals are soooo happy. Everything seems to be outstretched and overall bigger than with the mh and t5.
-These lights produce an amazing shimmer. I thought my mh created good shimmer, but oh boy, this looks awesome.
-My fish even look prettier.
-They dont produce heat, so I dont have to add top off water as often.
The bad:
- The ocean blue is very very very blue. While it does bring out the color of corals, lr, and fish, I needed my 54w t5 daylight bulb to brighten the tank just a tad. I didnt get the sky blue because it wouldnt have given me the color I was looking for. But with the addition of a 54w t5 daylight, the color is spot on PERFECT.
-you cant mix colors different pendants without the tank looking split down the middle (unless you point both pendants toward the middle of the tank, and I couldnt really do that on a 4ft long tank cause the edges would look dark)
Overall, I am so happy with these lights. If youre looking into getting some led lights, I would definately reccomend them. They are pretty affordable @ roughly $230 per pendant, the energy savings and bulb replacement alone makes it well worth the cost. My mh bulbs are $80 each, over a span of 10 yrs (which is how long these leds are said to last) the mh bulbs would cost me $800. I paid $460 for 2 pendants. Ive already saved myself $340, not including the energy savings.

we picked a green finger leather :) its so exciting to be able to share my hobby with him. He still hates my chille tho cause it doesnt look any prettier since its in a cave but hey u cant have it all lol, thats my personal fav thing in the tank so it doesnt bother me
