It'll be a little while (4 - 6 weeks) until I'm ready for some more coral. I only have one QT and I'm ready for a new fish. So after the fish has had his/her time in the QT...then I can think about another small piece of coral :) 

 

I'm still looking for 'Mr. Right'  or 'Miss Right' (fish).... :)

yup...... the eye buldging is pop eye, imagine that headache. But I agree totally. My daughter is no longer allowed in places like that. Our fish guy plays on her heart strings and know that my wife and I work in the medical field so he will try and give us these fish that are on there last leg, er,..... fin. The last one my daughter got had HLLE and she got it back to health but it was a struggle. We ended up doing all the work. The when all was said and done, got in her biocube, with in a month or more, it got HLLE again and died. *big sigh*

For awhile we had to hand feed that fish. Lol

Can two fish be put into the QT at one time, or is it better to do one at a time?

Places like that should be reported to the anti curtly organization, they probably wouldn't do anything about it because fish are considered food not pets. Know if they treated there dogs that way, that would be a whole different story.

This is all the more reason to have prime on hand, there is no guarantee that the filter media from your DT has enough bio filtration on it to handle the bio load of the introduced fish.

if you are looking to save a litte money go to your local drug store and buy Providone iodine 10% solution to use as a coral dip. (mix with water until you get a color of weak tea).

as far as how many fish to QT at the same time.

You must consider size and temperament of the fish you are placing in the close quarters of a QT tank

You also run the risk of infecting an otherwise health fish to parasites or infection if one of the fish is in fact sick

Thanks for the input Joe. As far as the amount of Fish being QT'ed, I only QT one fish at a time.

I honestly couldn't believe how horrible it was. It's to bad that there aren't any organizations that rescue fish like this, or that these places aren't more regulated. When the guy that worked there approached me and asked if I needed any help, I said no. I was really trying hard not to mind my own business, I'm originally from NYC and learned at an early age that sometimes it's the best option. But I couldn't keep my big mouth shut (also the New Yorker coming out) and said "ummm.....you do know those Coral Beauty angel fish are covered in ich right? And those two Flame Angels over there have eyes clouded over and popping out of their heads. Also, you've mis-labeled these fish over here....and probably shouldn't put those fish with that Niger Trigger" He just stood there nodding his head and stupidly said "oh, yeah....I see what you mean!" 

 

There was a couple there picking out some clown fish and emerald crabs. I wanted desperately to tell them "No, don't do it!" but for fear of being kicked out of the store, I walked away. I hope I did the right thing shrug.gif

I did the same thing at my local PetCo, I wispered to the people, These fish are all sick, see the spots. As I was walking away I heard them say to the sales person what are those spots. Made me fell better.

Yeah, I have to agree, I have been to a couple petcos, and most of their fish is sick, however I did find one that is closest to my house that I recently just started going to, the kid that runs the aquarium section full time has his own reef tank, and every single fish in there looks healthy and happy, they eat without hesitation, and are full of live, its surprising.

That's great to hear, they are far and few between. You would think that would be common sense to hire someone that new what they are doing if you are trying to sell anything.

I completely agree with you Mr. Limpid. Besides being in-humane it just doesn't make sense from a business perspective either. Most of those SW fish are pricey and you can't sell them if they're dead. Poor water quality in a tank with dozens of guppies or 15 cent gold fish is one thing....it's a whole other matter when it's a tank with Triggers and Tangs. shrug.gif
