Fish suggestions?

I have a 20g high SPS dominated barebottom tank. I have two tomato clowns and a bicolor blennie. I want one more fish to watch. Doesn't matter if it's a centerpiece fish or not. I'm thinking:

Flame hawk
Pygmy angel
Lemonpeel angel (I will be upgrading before it reaches adulthood)
Possum wrasse ( needs sand though, right?)
Neon goby

Chrysipter talboti. Without a doubt the most calm cool collected and easily will eat anything you throw at it. Small size, a big one gets to be only about 2 inches.

Think about a reef head with many SPS coral. Damsels are everywhere.

Yeah. That would be a cool little fish. Damsels are everywhere in those kind of reefs! Your right! Maybe my Next large tank will try to be as true to nature as possible. I'll try to find some availability on this fish somewhere. Pm me if you e already found out.

1 Pseudocheilinus hexataenia

1 Opistognathus sp.

I have a few Kupang Damsels. VERY colorful yet not as aggressive, and they stay pretty small too....

Of course, for a fun fish I never could find one to top a Midas Blenny. They find a hole in the rock to call home, then swim out and change colors and act silly. They go from a dull yellow/peach, to a vibrant canary yellow in a millisecond. It's amazing to watch.... And they spend the whole day coming out and flashing yellow and playing, then diving back in.  I used to play with mine. And they get along with other fish pretty well too............ As soon as I finish cycling my tank I am getting another one!

Wonderland, I love your taste in fish! Like Snake, I've been searching for something to add to my 29 gallon. You've given me some ideas...

Do you think a Midas Blenny or Fridmani Pseudo would get along with a pair of territorial Ocellaris clowns?

Well, the Catalina is completely out. It's a coldwater fish. I have a tropical tank.

I'll think about some of them. I'm leaning towards the damsel, actually.

From a technical standpoint, yes they are both compatible. But then again you have to account for mother Nature's oddities.  If your clowns are established and really aggressive. it may not matter whether they are "supposed" to get along, ya know?

 

The Midas will find himself a hole to hide in, but may be loathe to come out and show off if he gets attacked every time he does. The Fridmani is generally a pretty feisty fish that may hold his own a little better...  But then your clowns may not bother either one at all.... Can't tell until your try....

A midas could certainly hold it's own against clowns, especially if they're younger. Midas blennies are not whimpy fish, they'll bite. I've watched them attach aggressive fish. Jerth6932 had one attack an aggressive flame angel and it even bit him. They have fangs, most fish know this and won't mess with them.

Sorry for hijacking your thread Seth, but after much research and waiting and then more research and more waiting.... I've finally decided on a Midas Blenny! Woo hoo!!  Oh sorry, I mean Ecsenius midas bigg.gif    After I get the Midas and he's served his 4 - 6 weeks in QT then I'll purchase Orchid Dottyback Pseudochromis fridmani

 

Or should the Pseudo fridmani be purchased before the Ecsenius midas??

Uhm...... be very careful with these types of fish. The orchid is a great choice, as my lady has one, but the others you mentioned, well, do some research kay?

Most dottybacks are little monsters, but the Fridmani's tend to be much, much more peaceful
