150 Gallon Additional Stocking Questions

Hey all

I have a 150 tall with 40 gallon sump/refugium. 300# Pukani live rock. I run chemi pure and phosphate remover. Protien skimmer and uv sterilizer. My current live stock has been in for about 2 years with no problems whatsoever.

1 6 inch Niger Trigger
1 6 Inch Potters Angel
1 4 inch Six Line Wrasse
1 7 Inch Black Damsel
1 7 Inch Yellow Tang
2 5 Inch Mated Snowflake Clowns
Various Snails

I run chaeto about 1 ball every month in the output of my protien skimmer to rotate and I feed Tisbe Pods about twice a month. Bare bottom with about 2000 gph water movement/filtration. I also run a 304b-SunSun Canister filter for polishing. Light is a Odyessea 250 MH 4 t-5 actinic. I do not have any coral or inverts other than snails.

I run a LFS and Pet supply store purchasing from SunPet in Atlanta GA so I can currently order what they have in stock.

My levels are pretty much nonexistant.

I was inquiring what types of new additions could I stock. Running the fish department in the store for the past years has helped me with compatability but would like some suggestions from outside sources.

My qt is a 45 gallon cube with extreme filtering and dosed with cloroquine phosphate as a profolaxis.

Any help would be appreciated

Believe it or not the trigger has been with me about 2 1/2 years and is the shiest of all the fishes. They all congregate without incident and follow me around at feeding time.

Also this is a bare bottom tank so Im not sur if I can keep any gobies. I really like potters leopard wrasses but having the 6 line and no sand would create a problem.
Wife wanted a flame angel but it would probably get beat up by the potters even though 300# rockwork.

Ah very good, ok w caution then lol.
Pair of mandarin draggonets, royal gramma, anthias, cardinals.
It be dicey bc u have an angel but clarion angels are gorgeous. Not cheap tho

Clarions are out of stock most of the time. My cost is around 2000 not really do-able. Bangaii's and pajamas might be ok. At the store all the anthias I get only live about 2 weeks. I can get pinnatus bats, mandarines, copperbands etc. to eat pellets in about 2 weeks but no luck at home.

Thats weird. Bats are nice but hard to keep. Purple tangs are nice but your yellow may not appreciate it lol

It'll be hard to introduce another tang. My yellow has not allowed any of the new tangs I've tried to introduce to live. My coral beauty hasn't allowed any new angel to live, either. Best to look at other species if you want harmony. I have fish that are in the same family as all of yours, except for the trigger. I also have an algae blenny, a pair of firefish, neon dottyback, mandarin dragonet, and clown gobies. I'm pretty sure I could drop my pair of 8" engineer gobies in this tank, and they would be just as fine. I wasn't able to keep my yellowfin flasher in the 125, as the damsel and dottyback tortured it to death.

hmm, pegasus you has a good point...

but kvnkne if you like trigger fish, what about another trigger? or a large angel?

Harleiquin tusk. Are they aggressive or just nonreef safe due a fondness for shrimp, crabs, ect

If I remember correctly, the Foxface Lo is a pretty gently creature. I've been considering one for my 125, as it's considered "fairly" reef safe as long as it's fed well. It eats veggies and undesirable algae. That doesn't guarantee it won't eat some LPS and soft corals... which is why I've hesitated this long. It would be a great addition to a FOWLR tank.
