Possible clown issue "disease, parasite"

Your gonna have to bare with the video there's a lighter spot on his left side behind the middle stripe...I realize the video is terrible but there are like 5 instances where you may be able to destinguish what this spot may be...it kind of looks like a pimple with a clear head on it...it's ever so slightly raised off his skin...he's in this 5 gallon with a flame angle and chalk bass for about 2 weeks now and so far there seems to be no sign of anything on them...I also notice the clowns tail fin looks a little ratty...I have noticed absolutely no aggression with any of the three...again sorry the pics and vid is so bad but that's the best I can do...any suggestions? Sucks I was gonna put these guys in the main tank this weekend but of course probably shouldn't now

Hmm ok like I said I see no signs of aggression at all...not even a little chasing going on...I guess who knows when the lights go out though...I'm gonna give it a little more time I suppose to see what direction if any it heads in

For all that helps I goggle all things that interest me Bc I am new and want to learn and do right for my little buddies just as you. Your post interested me so I goggle. Did see aggression as possible cause. Keep close surveillance of your livestock

If it looks like a pimple then I'm leaning towards a parasite.

Velvet for instance the parasite attaches to a fish, feeds, goes into a reproductive faze where it forms a cyst. Cyst falls off and reproduction happens via cell division. Cysts are typically described as looking like pimples.

so quills if this is the case would this parasite infect the other 2 fish that are in the QT with him? should I separate all three fish immediately into there own QT tanks? I really don't want to do that simply because 3 QT tanks are not an ideal situation for me but if that's what it calls for im all for it....what would you say? should I give it a couple few days and see if it escalates any or possibly even just goes away for the fact it may not be a parasite? thanks everyone

I agree the fins look like they've been nipped at. Possible the spot is also a nip. I agree the flame is the likely culprit. The fish don't always behave the same when you are around. Any chance you can separate them.

Forbis...maybe just put them in the DT where they have plenty of space and other tank mates?

If it's any consolation...the clown is eating very well so i dont know if that rules out disease/parasite?

IF that's what it is the possibility of infecting the others would be there. I really can't tell from the images. It doesn't look like much of anything to me yet from the pics but agree there's been some aggression going on.

Then again, the stress and could compromise the fish and make them more susceptible to parasites or infection.

I was merely interested in your description of what looked like a pimple. I would give it a little more time. Could just be a scratch and may clear up.

I don't think you can rule out disease. It looks like aggression but if it is velvet you'd infect the whole tank. You can fill up a rubbermade tote, add an air stone and heater and you've got another QT. Anything that is food safe will work, down side is you can't see the fish very well.

Another thing worth mentioning maybe is he came from the captive-bred ORA facility which in my mind points even less to a parasite or disease...not that it can't happen but seems less likely

I could be wrong but I don't think ORA ever ships directly to the public. In order for us to buy them we typically have to go through a dealer. Dealers buy from ORA, they go into dealers holding tanks and then they ship em to us or we buy them at the LFS.

I guess I'm not sure but I bought it on live aquaria from there ORA devision and as far as I can tell it comes directly from them...i dont know I guess either way just thought I would mention it

Anyways...the clown is now in his own 5 gallon so I will now observe both tanks and probably give all 3 fish another 2 weeks until they go into the DT barring they all look good at that point

Probably a good idea.

Just out of curiosity I did a little digging. Apparently as of early 2015 live aquaria is now owned by *****. I hear E whispers suggesting quality of livestock has gone down recently although I can't confirm.

From what understand Live A essentially drop ships right from major wholesalers in Florida, California and their divers den facility in Wisconsin. Word is Velvet is running rampant in wholesalers tanks coming out of California recently.

May be completely unrelated with whats going on with your fish. Just found it interesting.
