50 Gall Saltwater Fluval 307 Canister headed livestock September 26. 2 clowns One yellow tang one Atlantic blue tang 1 cardinal 2 blue damsels, 1 animone
Is 3 months abt right to clean/change media?
Ph-8.2
Ammonia-0
Nitrites-0
nitates 5.0
Do these numbers mean tank is now cycled?

With a canister filter you need to clean it weekly. If I were you I’d buy a hang on the back filter. They are better for salt water and the maintenance isn’t as labor intensive.

Thanks but I'm happy with my Fluval. Super quiet and does a great job . I've had the hanger type On my freshwater tank and they are kind of noisy... vibrations etc.
I had to go to aquarium store for frozen shrimp today anyway and my go to guy there told me I could change the carbon and just clean out the sponge filters in the fluval now that the tank has a good numbers and has cycled. That was really my question .... when I should do my first filter clean up
