My trigger fish and the color red.

We all know fish see colors. You can use this if you have a fish that scares easily when you approach the tank and hides at feeding time. If I approach my tank quickly my trigger will head for his rock safety. I introduce the food into my tank via a red cup. He has come to recognize the red cup as a prelude to feeding. I can now stand away from my tank and let him see the cup. I then approach the tank quickly and he remains where he is anticipating the food.

That's cool. My niger did the same for about the first week or two. Eventually associated my presence with food and no longer would hide when I came near the tank. Although I could say the same for a lot of fish.

Now if I could just get this to work with fire fish I'd be all set.

I think most fish seem to come to associate the feeder with feeding time, and even maybe even the regular feeding time.
