How to best store GPS during long remodel

I am breaking down my tank for a home remodel, traded in the fish already, but have a ton of live rock and very healthy GPS. I was thinking it may work to put it in a rubber trash can in its own water, run a powerhead in it, and call it a day. I could give it ambient light and do water changes but i really need a low maintenance solution b/c the house remodel could take 6 mos. or more. Can I get advice from you experts?

Trash can will certainly work for rocks. It needs to be food safe like the rubbermade Brute trash cans. The GSP will need light. You will also want to make sure everything is protected from debris and maintain proper salinity.
