Removing the plastic rim

Just curious if anyone has removed the black plastic rim on a standard 10g tank before? Pros/cons

Ive always given the advice to not remove it, but I think I might chance it.

It is part of the brace. 10 gal isn't a hell of alot of water tho. So why not try it

I just took the trim off of my 120g. But it already has a leak and I don't plan on reusing it so I have nothing to lose lol.

For a 10g tank the risk is fairly minimal so I'm with Jay.

Ten gallons of saltwater is still a lot to get on the floor. And then how many hundreds of dollars of corals to chance, too. Ugh, I'm torn.

Ok, I'll do it.

Hopefully I will remember to document the next tank build.

It's a short tank so I think the odds are in your favor.

But if it doesn't work I'm gonna blame it on Jay.
