Mixing saltwater

I have a 72g bow front FOWLR and inverts. Have had it for a little over 4 years and up until now, have been buying saltwater premixed from my LFS. Lately I have been looking into buying a RO/DI system and mixing my own. I'm curios to see what salt mixes everyone prefers and why? Also, once you mix a batch, how long can you safely store it?

I use instant ocean reef crystals. After I do a water change I make new water then mix the salt water so it is ready for the next water change or an emergency. I try to do them weekly but in reality it is often every 2-3 weeks. So my salt water sits for quite a while. I do turn on a pump for an hour or so to aerate it prior to using it. I don't heat the new salt water.

I use reef crystals also...I mix mine a day before I plan on changing water...plus I would think u would save a ton of money instead of buying premixed...I have 2 55 gallon drums one for salt and one for fresh...although i dont know why I have my fresh one since I just run my rodi straight into the sump for top offs lol

You never know when you might need a barrel of fresh water.
