Are Wave makers a must?

Hello,

I've been doing montiporas and some other sps for many years successfully but have been too scared to try acroporas. My parameters are very nice, I'm using Kessil 160 LED lights, and have a lot of water movement through powerheads but before I try acros and kill them, I want to know if I need a wave maker or are the powerheads enough?

Thanx!

No not necessary. But what you want to avoid is having too much constant linear (one way) flow all of the time.

Might want to try pointing powerheads to your returns to flow into to each other to create a chaotic flow. I am looking at adding a small dual powerhead to stir it up a bit more..

ok good to know. I was looking at a wave maker but they're kinda pricey so I might just hold off for now. Thanks for the advice!!
