Chaeto beginning to die

I need help, I think that my chaeto is beginning to die. It is starting to turn white on the ends. It is in a 20 gal fuge with a 55 gal DT. I am using a 3500K 60w bulb for lighting and it is right in between the drain and my protein skimmer so their is enough flow. My tank is about 6 months old and my levels are in place. What should I do? Is there some nutrient it is missing or something?

I have been told iodine helps.

I use Those energy saving spiral bulbs. Its 100W, only uses 23 watts. Its light output is 1,600 lumens and I've been using the same kind of bulb for around a year and it works good for me and the chaeto isn't dieing or anything. I think your chaeto is dieing because there is not nitrates for it to feed on.

is it poking out of the water it will die off if it comes out of the water and if it is caught up to the nitrates get rid of some
plus go with a 6500k bulb
