Chemical Levels???

Thanks to everyones advice, I added my live rock and my live sand to my 4 day old tank yesterday. Today 24 hrs later....
ph: somehere between 8.2 and 8.4
amonia: 0.0 maybe a little bit darker, but nowhere near 0.2
nitrite and nitrate both at zero
is this normal or should I have seen higher amonia levels 24 hrs later. Should I add a piece of shrimp tomorrow when I get a chance to go to the store?

It might take a bit more time to show up, another day perhaps, then again if you really want to challenge that cycle then go ahead with the shrimp idea, if that doesn't do it nothing will.
