As the thread states. Who here covers their tanks? and who doesn't?...and why. Could it be just a matter of aesthetics or does it serve a purpose ether way? Discuss...

Define cover? Egg crate is a cover but allows good gas exchange. Glass is a cover and depending how its used can seal a tank or if gapped allow gas exchange. Consesus is a sealed sw tank is very bad

I'd say a conventional hinged glass cover.
I ask because I come the "freshwater fish world". I have used a glass cover for years and now looking for an alternative. What's this egg crate you speak of? :)

Anyone know where to get a good size piece of (black) egg crate? My local Home Depot only offers it in white.

BRS sells it. You can probably get it on Amazon.
General question. Wouldn't black egg crate absorb a lot of the light going into the tank?
BRS also sells screen top kits.
