i'm in my 48th day of cycling and my ammonia is at zero, but nitrite is still high. I did a small water change a few days ago. What else can i do? thank you in advance.

You're not done yet. What are you using to cycle?? Any fish or live rock?? Soon the nitrite will drop and the nitrate will go up. That's the way it works,
1. Ammonia up.
2. Ammonia down, Nitrite up
3. Nitrite down, Nitrate up.
4) water change to reduce nitrate and you're off!!

Kris's reply is right on the mark. But I will add that once your nitrite does drop, don't go out a buy a school of fish to add to your tank. Please, one fish at a time! And make sure you maintain excellent water levels for at least a month before adding more fish [again, one at a time].
