Fresh Water Dip

My yellow tang had a bad case of ich and I thought I'd try a fresh water dip. I carefully adjusted the Ph, sg and then started to heat it a little. I thought it might be cool if I was able to stain this guy into a purple tang. I added a bunch of blue food coloring and carefully put my ichy friend in his fresh water dip for exactly two minutes. When I fished him out and tossed him back with his buddies, he was a spectacular purple tang! I watched him happily swim around showing off his new look for the rest of the evening. In the morning when the lights came on – he was bright yellow again! The ich was still all over his body – brilliant blue!
Fresh water dips are a bunch of BS – they never work!

Good question! It must have something to do with the chemistry of the food color and the slime he produces.

I only did a two minute dip because I was running out of beer and was afraid if I made a beer run while he was in the blue dip he might turn blue. I already have a blue tang!
