Having issues with my tank. Put two lion fish in and they both quickly developed cloudy eyes. Lookdowns look covered in something. Anyone have thoughts on the disease and how to treat. Thanks

Probably velvet or ich. This is why we quarantine new fish. You need to remove ALL the fish and treat them with copper. You need to leave the tank fishless for 72 days for the parasite to die off then return the treated fish.

It looks like a pretty bad case of ich, but I would not rule out velvet (Amyloodinium) without getting more info about fish symptoms. Fish will succumb to velvet quite quickly, hours. There would be inflamed gills with rapid gilling and rapid respiration.

Thanks for the response. The fish have had these dots for a couple of months, and they don’t scrap at all. They’ve started to not eat as often and seem to not see the food well. Also seem to bump into objects more frequently. Can ich be treated without removing all the fish to a qt?
