How long to run MH lights

Hi all . . . I am writing on behalf of a friend again.
He just got a new lighting set up for his tank. Currently he is acclimating his corals to the upgrade in lighting (went from PCs to MHs). The set up is a 175W HQI 20000K bulb on a 30 gallon reef aquarium. Once the corals are acclimated, how long should he run the lights everyday?

I have my actinics come on at 9am and my MH's go on at 11am. them I have my MH's go off at 6pm and my actinics go off at 8pm

Hey stang I don't mean to steal the thread but what was the wattage and size of those pc lights?

I will check with him on the wattage of his PCs.
The only problem is that his new lighting is an all in one PC/MH combo, and the PC and MH lights cannot be turned on separately.

so they aren't 2 independent units? Cause if he wanted to sell I'm looking to buy.
