How much light for live rock

I have a 75 gal set up with 80 lbs of rock that I started the first of the year. It has what I think is good colors and the fish love to swim through it. The fish being 3 damsels and a Flame angle. I have 2 40 watt fresh water flourescent bulbs running 12 hours. I saw mention of lighting in refeance to live rock which got me thinking I may be a little short. Thanks for the help. All water conditions test good, the only thing measurable is nitrate at 5.

that lighting is fine for just rock, but is it a reef? If it is, I highly recommend skipping VHO and buying instead compacts. They put off the spectrum, enough light (vho's dont do foor aropoa), and dont raise tank temp.!!

Thanks for the input Ranger. I have lots of room over tank as it is inclosed in a partion between rooms. I picked up a ballast at a electrical supply and I see Home Depot has MH bulb's. I'm going to call the manufacturer for the spec on the bulb. If it works out I'll save some green.
