Do I need a director to Control my AI Hydra26 or can I just download and use the app? I am just using one unit.

I can't get the app to link to my light. This is frustrating.

Yeah you need the Director in order for WiFi features to work from your devices. They should be more specific about that. I just use the plain old wireless controller that's really all you need. The director had not been released in stores yet when I got my old Gen hydras. Don't see much of a reason to get it unless the controller decides to take a dump.

I can't find a new or even a used controller on the market.

I guess I'll have to buy the director. I would rather use the phone app anyway.

Looks as though they've discontinued them. I got mine as a package deal with 2 fixtures so it was a little cheaper. I guess the Director is your best option at this point.

Ok so it looks like the new Hydra HD's don't need the Director. But the previous ones still do. Not sure which ones you have.

I bought the old style at a discount. It doesn't seem like much of a discount now...
