I think we made a mistake.

I'd like the old threads back but most boards I think made the jump an encountered issues as well. Posting pics is horrible with new system.. Sometimes newer isn't always better. Not sure if it'll put us ahead of other boards.

Wow, talk about service. I too have been dealing with the shortcomings of this platform, and I figured that's just "the way it is" from now on. I'm very excited about the new features you are talking about. Count me in as a beta tester volunteer if you need one!

Thanks for the responses. We have started the process.
We'll keep everyone up to date on the transition and will share creative, etc as it becomes available. We want to do this right and it will take several months.
Thanks
Scott

Wow this is great news for those who have had some major problems. But I can't see the pictures. They don't upload big enough. But from what I can see, it looks very appealing in design and colour.
The new features sound awesome! Progress is painful.
As for the OP. Will you please incorporate that User CP button. So with one click I can see all the threads I'm following? PLEEASSEEEEE?

I just wonder if there will be some way of showing appreciation to the members whom have dealt with those changes........ :)
A forums-member only special? What? Did I say that?

Apparently, We Texans are the only ones who realize that that is missing. I tried to bring that up on the other thread and everyone thought I was nuts!
I also have to add that my BF laughed at me when I complained for week about the VBulletin 4 update. He said I was dumb for being upset, it wasn't that big of a deal and to get over it.
I came home from work work 2 days ago and he was on the verge of tears. He showed me a post off his VW forums. They are making the switch to Vb4 in 2 weeks. BAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Ummmm... you're able to read it when you click on it? Great eyes.
I realize it's just to get an idea of the design, but I won't know how it "reads" until I actually read something.

I would suggest that he email his forum admin with a link to our two topics on here.....

The new board looks great. Setting up the Wikis is going to be awesome!

hey
I own three of those.

I just relogged in after a slightly signifigant absence, I stopped coming aftter the newest transition because of the sheer irritation caused by the new vb crap. plus as usual life gets hectic around spring time.
my question is... while the maine (pun intended) guide in the forum says 95,000 (for the reef tank forum) threads if you actually enter a forum you can only access about 114 where are my old threads? if all that work is lost I will definatly not log in again. not just the archival threads but the ongoing tank build like my newest 125, I had thoughts to update that this evening (morning, whatever...) but your advanced search can only find 2 threads with me as the author of the threads. I could cry.

It's all still there. It's the search feature that is broken. I can't find any of my threads through the search feature. But using google, I can find them.
Gimme a threda to look for.... let's see if I can find it. What's the topic :)

When SWF upgraded to vB4 there was either a glitch that caused the old threads don't to get imported to the search database, or the upgrade required the old threads to be manually imported and that never got done.
The threads are out there. Go to google and type in "site:saltwaterfish.com" (without the ") and then either the title of the thread if you can remember it or things about that thread. Then look through google to see if you can find it.
Here's your "How to do a proper water change" thread from 2007

thanks aqua.

thats an enormous pain in the @$$ for all the threads that should be searchable. now I'm curious if I bumped some one off the end of the list. if there is only 114 threads still available in the reef section......
Scott and everyone else at SWF you have my sympathies in dealing with the flak this must have caused. hopefully the next changover will be a little more cohesive as a unit and pull it all together for you and the users.

I am seeing 115 (with yours 125gal thread being the most recent) in the reef section now
.
But it's a rather unfortunately way to go about finding your old threads. On the bright side, you only have to do it once (per thread). As after you post in the thread, its "on" the new board's search.

And, if luck will have it, the proposed future changes to the forum will result in a retrieval of SWF's long history of postings.
I believe I've retrieved much of what is posted in the Archives....including fixing all the pictures. No small task.

Actually, I noticed today that the pics in Archives and the Diseased Forum I thought I fixed are tiny...they were normal sized when I "fixed" them a while back. But, at least they are not links! lol
