Nitrates, what level?

hello, in order to have a healthy saltwater tank what is the level of nitrates should be okay? what do i need to do to keep ick away from happening to my tank? thanks very much

the rock says....
zero, but up to 20 is acceptable for fish, inverts in most cases require much lower levels and especially corals, but the lower the better and high levels are dangerous

dave, glad u asked, i am preparing to lose over $600 of fish to *********ing ick, trates way too high. Found a solution too late, as usaual, i already have written the loss of my babies off.
