Tank Update

The tank has been running for 5 weeks. The rock and sand was transferred from my other tank that I had running for 4 years. Everything seems to be happy and opening up and looks great. The 3rd picture is a neglected bubble coral that lost almost all of it's flesh in the old tank but has now started to com back. This is my first time having any sps and have not seen a drop in calcium or kh is this normal?

Usually takes a little time for the corals to adjust anytime they are moved or relocated. Once they do they should start showing signs of new growth again. Once you start seeing new growth is when they'll be consuming those elements.

I only see a couple of stony corals in there currently and not a ton of coraline algae yet so I wouldn't expect to see rapid depletion of calcium or alk for a little while yet.

I'd just keep a eye on things and monitor those levels weekly for now.

Thanks I have been doing 5 gallon water changes every week. I picked up the 2 montipora frags last week. I am starting to see some small new coralline spots starting to grow on the rocks.

It is a sign things are headed in the right direction.
