To feed or not to feed? anemones

Sorry for the crappy photo. So I bought 4 Rose BTA's 2 years ago. They were some of the largest and nicest looking anemones I'd ever seen. The guy I bought them from had over 30 from splits. To my surprise he told me he never fed them. I was used to at least feeding nems monthly, but decided I'd see if he was on to something. I also had noticed in the past that bta's seemed to deflate sometimes after a large meal, so I wondered if it was more harm than good? I now have 7 large ones (that clownfish is at least 4") that have never been fed in two years (plus however long he had them) unless my clownfish is sharing pellets. So I have read where some people say that they only need strong light and others are adamant they should be fed. Wondering if others have noticed decline after feeding or if others are having success with just strong light?
