The reason I ask is because as my Hammer Coral is growing, it is getting fairly close to my Candy Cane coral... Should I go ahead and try to move one?

Move one of them. Yes, the hammer can sting the candy cane. Hammer grow way faster than candy canes do, move the hammer to somewhere that it's going to have room to grow.
