Yellow Fiji Leather Toadstool Question

How long before the polyps start to come out.
I got the leather on Friday and it still hasnt opened up.

I also have a small concerna about the brown spot on the stalk of the leather. Heres a pic:

that brown spot, u need to really worry about, bc it could be brown jelly infection. yellow leathers r notorious for it. i'd frag off that brown part asap. make sure to do outside of the tank.

I tried to blow off the brown spot to test and see if its brown jelly. It didnt move at all and the flesh was in tact.
Any other thoughts?

Just so you know a leather isn't an LPS. If your sure it's not brown jelly it should be fine in a while.

yes it is a soft coral.watch the brown spot closely,if it looks liek its getting better then dont worry,but if it looks ANY worse get it off of it. frag it or whatever you have to do.

Ok thanks for the help.
I was able to actually pull off the brown stuff. It kinda flaked off and pulled off like some dead skin.
The underneath part looked alive and healthy!
Thats a good sign.

yes that is,still watch it for quite a while and make sure it stays looking that way.hope it goes good its a nice looking coral..i never really wanted one until now :) i will have to watch for frags.
