It was actually the powder brown that did the damage which is one of the smallest fish in this tank but good guess based on one pic. The trigger is actually a very model citizen to this point.

Pretty much normal, but you are very crowded in a 40. That's too small for the angel alone so you're going to get way more aggression than you would in say a 120 or larger.

Perhaps try sitting it in a bath of citric acid in a can overnight. Should be fairly spotless in 24 hrs.

I keep a lot of what is on both lists combined in a 250 display. Couple differences in in variety but Tangs, triggers, angels. The butterflies I have not had much luck with over the years other than the Copperband and the Foxface's. That said I have never tried having them first in the tank...

I do daily water changes which add up to 20% weekly on my main display with an auto water changer. I only go in and make new saltwater once a week and mix it in a station I set up. I drain all the waste water at the same time which I will also soon automate. Everything else is just routine like...
