    Boosting KH (B-ionic/Reef Builder)

My pH has always been on the high side (day) and that is why I'm hessitant to dose too much (B-ionic or Kalk) to impact pH. My calcium is currently at 360 (a little low). Thanks.

    Topeka, Ks.

I'm guessing you don't deliver to St. Louis. Are you having luck fraging or just have some extra? What are you looking for in trade?

    newbe needs info on calcium/alkaline

How about using Reef Builder by Seachem. It claims to raise dKH without immediately impacting pH. However, you still need to add Ca. Will ions be out of whack if you dose only one of the two B-ionic solutions? In other words, is it OK to only use Ca if your alk is OK (or alk if your Ca is...

90 gal stock list - please help

List looks good but make sure you stock slowly and in the order of aggression. I would also suggest Percs. Are you trying to raise clowns or just like the looks of a pair? I had very good luck getting two very young Percs and they now hang in the same anemone. They are very happy together...

    Boosting KH (B-ionic/Reef Builder)

I'm having a little difficulty keeping the KH of my 75gal up. I'm currently dosing B-ionic alk. and occasionally adding Reef Builder from Seachem. Just curious what others are using to keep KH up and not impact pH. My tank currently has a KH of 8 and a pH of 8.6. This is likely acceptable...

    Hair algae

I was fighting the same battle (hair on rocks, sand, intakes, overflow...) for over 6 months and did all the logical/textbook things that Salttrigger suggests. But only saw minor improvements. I then added about 75-80 Scarlet Reef hermits and ~ 30 bluelegs. In addition, I upgraded my sorry...

    Powder Brown/Blue Tang in 75??

Just added a 3" powder blue to my 75 about 3 weeks ago and things are going well. The first intoduction to the tank with 2 percs, a bicolor, and Kole did not go well (bicolor and powder had issues) so I pulled the powder and moved/added rock. When introduced again, all fish discussed territory...

Has a PH destroyed my sand bed????

I have a Remora and assume it is made in a similar way. The PH does not attach well to the down tube and when I try to adjust the skimmer box level, the PH occasionally detaches and sprays water out of the tank... a significant design flaw. I may try your idea of fixing it to the down tube.

    Ecosystem 40

Has anyone used this model? Good? Bad? Considering this is a hang-on, how is the tank water moved into the filter box? I assume the return to the tank has a small pump but the intake mechanism has me baffled.

    Powder Blue Tang aggressive?

Powder is currently in a 20g quarantine with two damsels. For some reason he seems very happy there. Even this morning he was eating just fine after his boxing match last night and multiple tank transfers. I could rearrange the rock but since that may still not work... he may have to go...

    Powder Blue Tang aggressive?

I have a 75 gal with ~55lbs LR and assorted corals. Fish = 2 percs in an anemone, bicolor angel and a Kole tang. I added a powder blue but was worried about everybody getting along so I removed the Kole first then introduced the powder. My hope was when I reintroduced the Kole, the Powder...

Installing MH lighting...what do you cover yours with?

I have a sheet of plexi-glass between my MH's and the water. It helps reduce the heat transfer to the water and last year I had an old bulb break. I'm glad I had the plexi. However, If you can go without.... probably the best for light quality.

    Sealing acrylic to glass?

Can one attach acrylic (plexi-glass) to glass? Will silicone work? Any and all suggestions and tips appreciated.

    DSB/LR/LS

Thanks for the information. As for your questions, I change the carbon once every couple of months. No specific regime. Do you suggest more frequent or infrequent changes? As far as additives, this too is not under a specific regime. I think I bottomed out on iodine since some of the corals...
