I got a cleaner wrasse about a month ago, but I can't remember if it was before or after his arrival that I first noticed this thing in the tank (I finally was able to snap a good picture to post yesterday!). Do you think he's the one making this thing? I never saw one of these in the QT while...
I have a 90G FOWLR and every so often I see one of these things floating around in the tank, usually in the morning when the lights come on and the fish get active... Any idea who/what might be making this?
I am using a 10G QT for my 4" Yellow Tang right now. Obviously not the ideal size tank for a fish that size, but all I had at the time too. Using your 25G is definitely a better option, BUT if you have to treat the YT during QT you run the risk of killing the inverts in your reef tank. Best...
Whew! I was really hoping I would be ok becasue I didn't want to have to try and return the box (and pay +/- $50 return shipping in addition to the original amount!!) And yes, the ball valve is on the return line.
Thanks for confirming that I wasn't crazy when I made my selection.
Just read truehle's post about his DIY sump and I think I messed up royally with my most recent purchase...
I've got a 90G DT with a wet/dry filter box standing in a 20G long as my sump. My pump is a Mag 9.5 with 4' of 3/4" tubing for the return (calculated 850 gph after head loss). I have a...
That's awesome! My hubby is an West Point grad. WP is a great school that will offer your brother a very challenging education in addition to the football program.
+1 on the algea sheets
I've never seen my LMB eating the mysis I feed to the other fish, but boy does he love the nori in a veggie clip I put in for the tang! He will perch on it and eat until his belly is loaded!! I'm hoping he doesn't get 'lazy' and stop cleaning the glass and rocks in mt tank.

mkroher - Thanks for sharing, it made me feel a little better to know that I'm not the only one having problems! I had tried reseating the tube and tapping the filter but it still didn't start, so I'm glad that I got a new one.

This are elementary questions, but I would really like to know what is working successfully for other folks...
I don't have a RO/DI yet (I'm carting 5G jugs...
Ugghh! Just finished the 3.5G WC and plugged the HOB power filter back in... nothing!! There is an airstone running for surface movement/oxygen, but no filtration at this point. My hubby is stopping on the way home from work to pick up another power filter. I'm thinking I should use the...
Performed 50% WC yesterday and tested water afterwards:
Temp 82
SG 1.023
pH 7.8
Ammonia 0
Nitrate 1.0
Nitrate 10
Added 1 tsp of Amquel+, tested Nitrite again after 30min and it was .50. Added 1 capsule Nitrofurazone.
Now finishing up Day 5 of treatment and YT is looking worse instead of better...
