This would be a great chiller idea for a 10-20 gal. reef setup! Could even be an easy DIY project if you have an extra power filter sitting around (who doesn't).
Mini Reef Chiller
A Perc. Clownfish I just bought a few weeks ago has taken up it residence in my green open brain coral!?! He has also convinced the smaller Perc. that this is fun and he too has moved in. I hope they dont irritate the brain to death. I also had a Marroon clown live in one of my leather corals...
I have an extra skimmer that I used on a 10 gal. if you would like it. It is an AMiracle Counter Current Skimmer. it sells new for about $50. I will sell for $20.

Can anyone reccommend a really good test kit for calcium. Money is no object. Looking for accuracy but it does not have to bethe most expensive. My readings with a Tropic Marin test kit just dont seem possible. Thanks
Byrself,
mine does the puffing up thing too! I think it exposes as much of the coral flesh as it can toward the light to get the most it can out of it. Sounds like you have a very nice, healthy piece if brain coral. Good luck.
My brain coral does that. I believe it has to do with feeding at night. When the lights are on it seems to be feeding off the zooxanthelae, when the lights go off, it uses the small tentacles to capture plankton.
This all depends on what corals you plan to keep under this lighting. I started with 4 65 watt power compacts, corals look good but I want better growth. I am upgrading to metal halides (I'll let you know how it turns out). One thing I have learned that it is expensive to change your mind later...
I think it is more of a question of supply and demand. My LFS sells razor caulerpa for $3 for a baseball sized clump, but I would gladly pay more for different varieties, i.e.Grape, Feather.
