How long do you think I should boil them?

I was given some sea shells that were in the ocean at one time. They were picked up off the beach in Flordia. Is there anything I should do to them before putting them in my tank?

the lfs said thats what he would eat. we tired some smelt once and he wouldnt eat that either. so not sure what else to try.

we just got in a bucket of red sea coral pro salt. and before we were using instant ocean or reef crystals. and on the back of those bags is said add so many cups per gal. i just want to make sure i add enough salt. and on this bucket is says add 1.4lbs/5 gal. so is it saying add 1.4lbs of salt...

we have 2 different hydrometers one is the sea test from instant ocean and the the deep six hydrometer and theya re reading 3 ppm off. which one should we go by or should we buy another and see which one read the same as the new one? and also has anyone ever heard of keeping your tanks salinity...
