    Thinking of starting up again.

So..to recap, the rock should be fine if I scrub it and let it sit in a tub, even though its been dead awhile now? For sand, I don't have any, and will probably start over with that, buying new bagged dead sand..and then adding live sand to it. As for the filter, I was thinking of going with a...

    Thinking of starting up again.

Hello all, Its been awhile since I was last here, and about 2 years since I last set up my tank. It is a 38 Oceanic cube, and for lighting I had Coralife 24" Aqualight Power Compact Strip Light- 2X36 Watt. I also had a CPR Bak pak, and just a small HOB filter. Also a powerhead in the corner...

Are sally lightfoots supposed to do that?

Well, maybe the crab is hungry, but I can't see how, I feed plenty and there is a lot of different types of algae for him to feed on. He does seem to clean all day and is quite aggresive when it comes to finding food.

Are sally lightfoots supposed to do that?

I noticed the other day that my green star polyp had some of its polyps missing. The next day, it starting looking like it had a bald spot in the middle. Then I saw why the polyp looked so bad, my sally lightfoot was munching away on the polyps. After that one snack, the crab left the polyp...

    help, i'm dying

You said sand sifting stars, but you would really want to get sand sifting snails. The best for that would be cerith and nassirius(sp?) snails, which live in the sand bed. Its great to watch these guys when you feed, they come out of the sand, one by one catching whatever food they roll over. :D

    fish for a 25g tank

A good rule for fish size is in the beginning an inch of fish per five gallons and then when the tank is more mature(six months) it can be an inch of fish per two gallons. But please consider the adult size of the fish and the type of fish for the tank. Like you could never have a tang in your...

    Ammonia question

Do you use tap water for your tank and if so do you live near a big city? I ask this because my brothers tank was complety wiped out by an ammonia spike, and it was because the city put ammonia in the water, test your source of tap water and see if thats the cause.

    New to Salt Water Aquariums

For a reef tank, you could also have a power compact lighting, maybe two lights, meaning four pc bulbs, and that would probably be enough for a pink tip. Anemones need a tank that has been set up for at least six months, and very stable water. For corals, with the pc lights, you could easily...

For your 300 gallon tank, are you going to have it as a fish only or a reef tank? Lots of questions are always good and this place is a great way to learn.

    hosting pics

Its not common for a pink tip anemone to host clowns since they come from different parts of the world. But I guess I have the exception and my clown loves my condy anemone, which is similar to the pink tip. I will get the picture for you soon.

    fish for my tank

Even with that amount of live rock for your tank the chances of your manderin surviving are slim. I just wouldn't chance it. Maybe you should consider a fish that swims out in the open and is colorful like a royal gramma or a pygmy angel. Neon dottybacks are also colorful and small. You said...
