    Regal Angel

I have a Regal and it is doing well, maybe luck of the draw. It started out really shy and skittish for about a week. I have a 160 gallon established tank so I assume it was snacking on the live rock. Starting eating a mix of frozen food including mysis, brine, angel formula and emerald green...

How many people have generators for power outages?

I have one and feel it is a "must have" piece of equipment. I have only needed it a couple times but it saved my reef and thousands of dollars in losses.

    post your temperatures

Set at 78 and may go up to 79-80 when the halides are on. Why? I don't use a chiller and that is where the tank stabilizes in the summer. Same temp 24/7/365. I have no idea what is right but this temp works for me.

    Angel in Reef Experiences

I have a 160 gallon mixed reef and several angel fish. Angels include Queen, Regal, Flame and BiColor. Oddly the only fish really causing issues is the Regal. It has decimated my pulsing sinularia, most sponge and polyps from one toadstool leather. It has also picked at my pulsing xenia but not...

    JBJ ATO unit?

I can't speak for the JBJ ATO but I do use the AquaLifter and like it. I think it is much better to add the make-up water slow versus using a powerhead and adding it too fast.

    Distilled Water OK?

Distilled water is fine, a lot better than spring or tap water. I use distilled when I get in a pinch and need to buy water.

    How does a overflow fail?

Most of the time it is because air gets in the U-tube and it looses siphon. The return pump continues to put all the sump water in the tank. Tank overflows.

I think 64 oz of powdered Tang is about right for 29 gallons.

    Help, 29gal w/ Protein Skimmer

I had a 100F on my 29 and it worked out well. Give it a few days to "slime up" and the micro bubbles should go away.

    Octopus Skimmer ???

The 800S has been out since last September. I have one and it is a powerful skimmer. It will not work with your light if you only have two inches of clearance. I ended up getting a reef ready tank and went to a sump skimmer. Many of the skimmers will fit under a factory height stand.

Whats your Water changing set up?

My process is similar to NigerBang’s. I have a 28 gallon tote that I fill about 3/4 with RO/DI water. I keep it at 76 degrees and a pump running in it all the time. On Friday I mix in the correct amount of salt and let it continue to mix. Sunday I siphon out 15 gallons from the display into...
