    Aiptasia! Aiptasia! Aiptasia!

I just bought an order of Joe's Juice as well. I'm in the process of moving everything into a new tank - it's all been sitting since my old tank broke waiting for my new tank to be ready... and the aptasia is in the tank full of LR and no corals or fish... Just a powerhead, lights, micro and...

    what's this critter?

it's very difficult to see what that is. Do you have any pics of the critter in water? Can you describe it? If it was attached to the equipment, it might have been sponge. How long has your tank been set up?

    aiptasia

I've never heard that Joe's Juice makes things worse. I've also had the experience that peppermints eat only the small ones and that after they're done with those, they pick at corals unless you keep them full

    Fuge lighting questions

at first, i was told to run my fuge lights 24/7 also, to keep the plantlife from going "sexual" and dumping nutrients back into the water. That was years ago, and I'm not sure it's still thought of as the best way to go. Good luck! I'm curious to see what answers you find...

    Help new tank set-up

Hi, everyone! I'm setting up my replacement tank for the one that broke (very sad) and need advice on the set-up: 55 gal with dsb, will have maybe 150 lb live rock and a few fish, soft corals for now (saved from broken tank) wet-dry with Rio 2100 in the sump will pump water into 25-gal fuge. I...

    Everything Dead

five days without light will not kill bristleworms or fish, but five days in a tank with poison in it (dead anemonies) can kill lots of stuff... Particularly considering that only the lights went out - the powerheads would move the poison everywhere.

im stuck and need some advice

sorry nobody helped you yet. I've been keeping saltwater fish for about five years - so take my advice for what it's worth. I'm not one of the "big boys," but I've got some experience... I would say that the "live rock" you had from your garden is not live at all (in swf tank terms...). It...

    aptasia gone wild!

I can't imagine hitting every single aptasia with juice - there must be thousands of them! It would take me weeks and weeks. On the other hand, it might be fun... for those of us suffering from OCD...

    aptasia gone wild!

oh - and about the aptasia - they've been growing for months, so there are thousands of them, and they're all sizes -- I am afraid it is too much for shrimp and it is DEFINITELY too much for human intervention with a syringe. Will the peppermints eat full-size aptasia?
