How to choose a powder blue tang

Thank you for your advice! You say low salinity can mask the problem but still recommend hyposalinity. So I should "not" have 1.021 but must have 1.019?

How to choose a powder blue tang

Tank= 180 gal. System total water about 250 gal. I quarantine "all" new fish 3 weeks. However, I have not decided on whether to use copper on the PBT once I get it. Tank size is not a problem but the aggressive Yellow Tang in there is a problem. Right now I just want to get a healthy fish with...

How to choose a powder blue tang

Fish in mind: 4 inch powder blue tang. At the fish store some are colorful while some are drab/more dull looking. Is it risky to pick a colorful one that could be subject to cyanide posioning? Will a drab looking one gain color eventually? Thanks for you advice!

Nori wrap..................a less messy way to feed nori seaweed.

Beth you are right that we need to be "selective" when buying nori for fish( I took it for granted that it's a "well know" fact). Never use the seasoned nori. As a referance I have attached a label: note that 0% on fat, cholestrol, and sodium, 6% vit A, 4% vit C, 2% Iron. Also, seaweed is...

Nori wrap..................a less messy way to feed nori seaweed.

Isn't marine algae sheets similar to nori? Tangs are like sheep and cows and other herbivore: they eat all day but "don't" require highly nutritious foods. They do require roughage and antioxidants that veggies have. I am not saying feeding veggies "only". Tangs can get enough nutrition from 1...

Nori wrap..................a less messy way to feed nori seaweed.

If tangs are fed too well with frozen, pellets, flakes, etc. they may not eat the veggies. But veggies and nori "should be" part of their diet, because they offer antioxidants and fiber that tangs need. Try not to feed in the morning but offer the wrapped nori all day then feed small meals at 3pm...

    An unhappy clown

The side glass( on both sides)she goes to are a few feet away from her spot, too far from her territory. Besides she's not slamming at the glass just goes up and down non stop............trying to get away..............has not eaten much last 2 days.

    An unhappy clown

I am puzzled by this medium size Maroon Clown. She's healthy and has been in my 180 gal "fish only" tank for 2 months. There's another much smaller Maroon in the same tank but she rarely pays attention to him. She would peck on him a bit when they meet ocassionally( They hang out separately)...

Nori wrap..................a less messy way to feed nori seaweed.

I stopped feeding nori for a while because it falls apart easily, floats aroud, gets sucked into filters and could affect the water quality. One day I was eating Vietnamese egg rolls that were served with lettuce leaves it gave me an idea: thus "wrapped nori" was born, lol! I can't say it's my...

    This algae good for refugium?

*********** calls this Red Gracilaria Feeding algae. I planned to put it in my refugium which has a little higher flow than medium. Upon receiving it seems like it would fall apart easily. Most of it is in 3-4 clumps. Is it a good idea to use it? May be put it in a plastic cage first?
