Saltwaterfish has a package for a clean up crew of 50 assorted hermit crabs and 50 assorted cleaner snails. For a 110 gallon tank with a 1inch sand bed and about 70lbs of live rock too big of a crew? As of right now I only have 2 crabs ruling the tank and no snails.

One thing I forgot to ask is will it matter if the outlet pipe is submerged? If I raise to 9" I think that will put it under the water.

....and yes it is just that one chamber. The other side houses the bio balls which I am working on removing and will put socks in. I would also like to make it a refugium and not sure how to go about that yet.......but that is another thread at some point.

Yes I have it around 7.5 now. I will raise it to 9 and see if that helps.

Thanks Geridoc. As of right now I have the waterline one inch above the neck as the instructions say to have it. I am getting a small amount going into the collection cup but not much. Hopefully I will start getting more in there soon.

I recently purchased a Reef Octopus protein skimmer and the instructions said that it is a 3-4 week "break in" period. How do I know that it is truly broken in? When it is broken in how should I adjust it so that I get the proper amount of waste being pulled out?

It blows over very easy. I can basically wave my hand in front of it in the water and it blows off. I actually wish i had the coraline algae. Ever since I moved away from my old 55 gallon tank a long time ago I have not been able to successfully keep coraline. I really liked the way it looked.
