    Fluval Edge Nano Lighting Suggestions

I'm in the process of cycling a Fluval Edge 6 gallon nano reef. The setup includes 2 halogen bulbs but these definitely won't support the corals when added. Does anyone have suggestions for LED or other small lighting setups that would work with this and also support a reef environment? Thanks!

    Clarkii Clown Throwing Crushed Coral!

Hey there ... I have a Clarkii Clownfish that seems to have a strange behavior. I have the lights in our tank on a timer and about an hour before they are set to go off at night he starts picking up the crushed coral in his mouth, swimming with it to the middle of the tank (away from the area he...

replacing crushed coral with live sand

It's called AquaTouch and is in Phoenix. Overall they seem to run a good operation, but it's hit or miss whether you get a knowledgeable and even friendly person to help there. It's usually really busy (which is a good sign) but they're understaffed and if you don't get one of the "pros" you can...

replacing crushed coral with live sand

I was told to used crushed coral when I was buying some stuff to get the tank ready at the "best" saltwater place in Arizona, but they failed to ask me what type of tank I'd be setting up. Since then I've been told that crushed coral is fine for a FOWLR or fish-only setup, but it's definitely a...

replacing crushed coral with live sand

I was given bad advice and made the mistake of using crushed coral as the substrate when I started my reef a few months ago. It's an 80 gallon filled with about 150 lbs of LR on top of the crushed coral. Without having to remove the LR, does anyone have tips on the best way to get the crushed...

    Coral Beauty Angelfish -- Sick??

Strangely no change in the angel's behavior ... he looks perfectly healthy but spends 100% of his time hiding in the back of the tank amongst the live rock. Very strange!

    Coral Beauty Angelfish -- Sick??

Yeah, I get all my live rock and have bought a few fish from AquaTouch... but I go weekly for my "aqua" (RODI and premixed salt). They're generally really good but sometimes the service is really slow and the workers can be grouchy and show signs of major fish-snobbery!

Refugium with Canister & Wet/Dry Filter??

Yeah, there's a pair of white spotted toby puffers ... they were raised in a reef setup and fortunately don't disturb any of the corals or polyps.

Refugium with Canister & Wet/Dry Filter??

Do you think it's overkill? If the other stuff is sufficient I'm wondering if I'd be pouring hundreds of dollars into something that might just be duplicating what's already there.

Refugium with Canister & Wet/Dry Filter??

So I'm wondering if a refugium would make sense given my current setup -- an 80 gallon reef with an Eheim Ecco canister filter, Eheim Professional Wet/Dry filter, AquaC Remora Protein Skimmer, and a 15W AquaStep UV Sterilizer. I was thinking about putting the refugium to the left of the...

    Coral Beauty Angelfish -- Sick??

I don't see any physical signs of any sickness, attack, etc. His eyes are clear and from what I can tell he's physically OK. It just doesn't make sense that he was frolicking around the tank for several months then one day decides to hide out amongst the live rock and not appear at all. By the...

    Coral Beauty Angelfish -- Sick??

I've had a coral beauty angel (Centropyge bispinosus) for a couple months in an 80 gallon reef setup. All the other fish have been thriving along with this one, however the past couple days he has retreated to the back of the tank behind areas of live rock. This wouldn't alarm me except for the...

    Live Sand

That's a really good idea but I've spent so much time placing the rocks, corals, etc. it would be a major overhaul even at this point. It would have been nice if the store I bought the setup from recommended the live sand instead of the crushed coral from the beginning!

    Live Sand

I've had my 80g reef tank going for a few months with a crushed coral substrate and about 150 lbs of live rock. I'm thinking about adding 20 lbs of florida live sand (https://www.***********.com/product/...403&pcatid=403). Does anyone have any opinions on this? If you want to check out some...
