    Scaring away potential hobbist?

Last reply here. Hey at least it made for an interesting chat. All I am saying is that not everyone has your dedication to the details. This does not make them bad people nor does it mean that their system is unacceptable. It depends on what they are keeping. Is my way adaquate for a reef...

    Scaring away potential hobbist?

Keeping a saltwater aquarium does not have to be hard, but it sure seems that we are trying our best to make it that way. It was not my intention to be nasty or rude. Suggestions for those who ask are greatly appreciated I am sure. All I am saying is that no one knows for a fact what is...

    Scaring away potential hobbist?

Yes people do stupid things sometimes, but I see a lot of preaching instead of helping from those who are "In the Know" The "unacceptable" line was used in a earlier post recently by one of the monitors who thinks that salt needs to mix for 48 hours before adding. Recommended would be a...

    Whats your most aggrssive?

Golden Snapper. He does not act aggressively towards anyone, but if there is krill to be had he will steal it from anyone. Just charge right into the mug of my Queen Angel or Sohal who are twice his size and take it. It is hilarious.

    I new Fish

Lionfish in general are stubborn. He should eat the krill when he gets hungry enough. I personally don't buy any fish unless I have seen them eat what I intend to feed them at the LFS because a few individuals just never adjust to captivity. If he is big enough he will eventually get your...

    My tank...

The only trouble I see down the road is that Flame Hawks don't get very large. You would have two predators in the tank which will grow large enough to eat a adult flame hawk no problem. Just something to think about.

Aggressive setup for a 90 gal

Miniatus and a Volitan.... these will not bother your inverts which you will need for that DSB. With a 90 and a lot of rock you will not have much room for another fish. Those two species are very robust, so you reduce the risk of problems. Eels get too big too quick and many love...

    Possible?

Your substrate will be the main "sink" of the copper. This will leach out and reach an equilibrium everytime you change your water. Not a big deal unless you have fish sensitive to copper. IE Sharks, rays...Lions might be sensitive (not sure) That percula will be one rather expensive dinner...

    Please help a friend.

It is hard to see much on Queens because of their scales. Look at their fins and on the blue of the face. My guess is the usual suspect (Ich) at this early point.

    ICH question

Yep you got to get him if the infestation is growing. Keep a few buckets hand and remove a few hiding places so you can corner him. I would monitor your other fish to see if the Ich as gotten to them. Ich is always present in Main tanks in some small quantity. Just like the cold virus is in...

    Should I do it?

Smart move though keeping it by itself. Guess your one of those who like to keep the baddest of the bad. I would be scared to clean it myself. Well maybe with a chainmail glove that went up over my elbow........Good luck....and keep a first aid kit handy!!

    Harlequin Tuskfish

Just be warning here. Harlequins may look tough, but in reality they are wimps. It has been my experience that they are very shy at first and will have a tough time adapting in a even moderately aggressive tank. I would keep a Harlequin with tangs, butterflies and other small mouth type...

Why Isn't My Protein Skimmer Working?

    Then it is working properly.

    help

Too vague. Are they bumps or pits? What color are they? Is the Tang behaving normally and eating? Any other observations...

Why Isn't My Protein Skimmer Working?

I would just let it go until you get back. Not like your tank is going to collapse if your skimmer is not on it for a day.
