Yup! You guys are right. Most of the searches for limpet said herbivore. Looks like he's a keeper. Thanks, guys!

Emerald crabs aren't compatable with clams?

Ok, thanks for the help, guys. Here's a pic of the little guy, about 2 inches. Light blue color and those orange stripes made him stand out from the others. I got the derasa about 11 months ago and it was the same size!

    Snail with strange shell...

I think there's 2 of these in my tank. Seem to be algae eaters, but I just want to make sure. The part where the shell comes to a point on its back is used to get rid of waste. I saw it the other day, the snail shot a little cloud out - kinda funky...

Emerald crabs aren't compatable with clams?

A few days ago i bought an emerald crab for $5 since I've got a bit of bubble algae. Earlier today, I bought a beautiful 2" maxima for a great deal from a local wholesaler. (Don't worry my lights are fine) A couple of hours ago, it occurred to me that the crab might not be completely safe. After...

    Light question help

I've had a derasa clam in my 40G breeder for about 11 months. It is doing great under 4x39w T5 HO lights. It has doubled in size, from around 2" to around 4" now...Get the 4 bulb fixture, you won't be sorry!

Going to kick my Octopus BH 300-F out the door.....

I think its something with how the skimmer is initially started. I've had the octopus hob 100F running on my 40 breeder for about 10 months, and it took nearly 6 months for me to figure out how to get it to work properly. I'll try to explain the best that I can: 1. Fill up the skimmer with water...

    Lobo color change?

I thought I'd share, but I'm also curious why... All 4 of the heads on this colony were the same color when I bought them, but the actinics made me notice the difference in colors from the two on the left, compared to the two on the right (that are the original color). So why are they...

    candy cane

I don't know what GeoJ specifically meant, but after spot feeding mine, they get "puffier", and as with many LPS, puffiness is good!

    blueline glue

dab the plug with a cloth (or even a q-tip) to dry the part where the glue will go, put a drop or two on that glue on, stick the frag on there good. you probably want to leave it out of water for a minute (don't blow on it). after a minute, rinse off the frag and plug with saltwater (to clear...

    40 gallon tank build

I still think you should search more! Or maybe wait as long as you can. I got mine for $130 shipped... Maybe buy a used unit and replace the bulbs?

    lighting for a 29 gallon

LPS will be fine with the current lights, even in the sand bed. (BTW I have a 40G breeder thats 18" tall, 4X39W T5 ho lights). I have several small colonies of acans that are growing nicely, a happy derasa clam midway up in the rockwork, and some monti digitata (which are as close as you can get...

    Mushrooms :(

try getting some cheapy mushrooms, and place them in a shaded area. if they aren't getting enough light they will lose their color (go transparent) and they will begin to "reach up", like they are stretching towards the light. too much light and they won't fully extend. that's my experience...
