    Cleanup Crew - non inverts?

which ones do that? I have a couple yellow watchmans that don't do anything and one that looks like a diamond goby that just sits under a rock. None of those are shifting sand.

    Cleanup Crew - non inverts?

My father's tank is 180 gallons and has a few fish. He added copper to treat his queen angel, so he can't have inverts. Before we used several horseshoe crabs to stir up the sand and prevent buildup What can we use instead?

How far should MH be off the surface?

The main thing with moving them closer is the heat. You'll notice if you put your hand 14" away from them then 10" away how much more heat there is at 10". Do you have a chiller? What size tank? You'll just have to watch your temps. I suggest keeping it 12" off the top, and plan on putting...

    DIY Refugium help

I again suggest running two loops. Running one with limited space like you are suggesting gives me concerns. How much turnover do you have with your current sump pump? You may give the refuge too much flow unless you limit it some how. If you put a valve of some sort on to limit the flow...

    DIY Refugium help

Ok...I don't have a picture that would explain anything, but I'll try to verbalize to help. First, I assume you know how an overflow and sump works, correct? The tank holds a max of say 200 gallons, and the sump will hold a max of say 10 gallons. A pump takes water from the sump that is only...

And for good growth with coraline I've found that you need a brighter, higher spectrum of light for it to grow well also.

Why Puff Up 4 No Reason

put a fan on that tank and keep the lights on for a shorter time until you do. If that doesn't help, get a chiller. No idea on the puffer...the ones I've seen usually get disturbed by something and not just for no reason.

    DIY Refugium help

This is almost setup exactly like my 90 and 180. I just run a pump to the refugium from the sump, and an overflow from the refugium back to the sump. Almost like a double closed-loop setup with one loop on the main display tank and the other on the refuge. Works for me.

    Carpet Anemones

Depends on size of anenome and size of tank as well. Afew years ago I had one that I could have sworn ate a watchman goby I had one night. I think night lights may help a little too making sure they don't bump into it. Really, though, I don't think it's a big concern.

    HOT HOT HOT! Tank Temp

Cools the tank through evaporation. Just point the small fan at the surface of the water, and keep an eye on the water level. Every couple days you'll have to add a gallon or two of top off water to keep enough in the tank.

180 Gallon...how would you light it?

ok I found that each 72" bulb is 160 watts, so I get it now. The ballasts will max out at 440 each, so I'd need 3. How long are the 72" bulbs? Exactly 72", because that's exactly how long the tank is so I'd have to go with 60" bulbs in that case.
