I am setting up some fish racks, I am going to have 2 20H's below a 55gal, all flowing into a 55gal sump, so ill have more than 100gals in the system, I wanted to keep cardinals in one 20H and maybe firefish in the other, but lionfish in the top 55gal, the sump will be mostly a refugium for...

    DIY is so much fun

I just finished my 3ft skimmer and it works GREAT, hardly cost me anything and I had fun making it, I think everyone should make as much as they can themselves, it gives a real sense of satisfaction, my next project is a stand/lighting, and overflow unit, I can't wait!

    Fish for a 20gal

Well, I was thinking maybe 3 small fish, but nice ones, herbivores that don't look alike, wouldn't that cut down on disputes a bit? I am setting up another 20gal as we.. type?... but I think it will be dedicated to seahorses, I made a rack to stack the two up and have a 10gal sump at the bottom...

    Fish for a 20gal

Yeah that's what I'm going for, my girlfriend says Lemonpeel angels, but they'll get too big, I could allways move it to a bigger tank, but, I think chromises would be cool, blue or green, something small, don't they stay small? and what about small fish, a bleenie on the bottom, chromises in...

    Fish for a 20gal

So, what you mean by surface area, is that there isn't enough oxygen in the water? If I aerate it more could there be, it does get alot of aeration, there is a Biowheel 125 and skilter 250 on it, which run 375gph through the bio and chem filters, and I have a 3ft counter current skimmer on it...

    Brine Shrimp

Is it ok to feed frozen brine shrimp alot, because, it seems to get stuck on stuff and I'm afraid it will raise ammo and such, but it EVERYTHING in the tank's favorite food, EVERYTHING in the tank runs out of hiding as soon as I put it in, and I would like to feed it whenever I can, but is it...

    Super Terrific Happy Hour

Well, I am about to make a sump, stand, skimmer, hood w/ lighting, overflow and a refugium all myself, I wonder how it will turn out, I am using acrylite for the sump, it's not very thick, but the sump isn't too big so I think it'll work... I am excited/worried about all of it... what kind of...

    What constitutes a DSB?

Thanks for the info guys, is it that miracle mud stuff you speak of? i want to put a DSB in the refugium I am making, I think it might be too hard to redo my whole tank, but I might! Who knows... any ideas on how to redo the bottom? should I remove all LR and just add onto my existing LSB (2.5"...

    What constitutes a DSB?

How deep does it have to be to house anerobic bacteria to help get rid of nitrates?
