I think I have my new sump layed out. Planning on getting some plastic ordered this week maybe so I can start working. Anyone see any obvious flaws here? The intent is that the front section is the fuge, the back left is the skimmer, and the back right is the return pump. Water will flow in to...

So.... Pondering my design a bit more I noticed this isn't really a closed loop. While in essence this would increase flow and give a cleaner look I noticed that if I loose power, the water can back flow through the pump lines and run down to the sump. I guess it will stop once it breaks suction...

Sounds good. That's why I was thinking of putting them close to the upper corners so they wouldn't be in the way of the rock work. I will likely put a bulkhead through the wall and attach some sort of nozzle to them so I have a little directionality to them. I should also be more free to adjust...

Thank you for the input! The plan was to build an acrylic column overflow in the back, the tank is glass as I don't much care for acrylic tanks. I have the black acrylic already and I just need to build the overflow. I looked up the beananimal overflows, are they really that much quieter than...

    Custom Sump Input

After many years out of the hobby I have returned and am starting with fresh equipment. I am running a 27G cube (20x18x20), drilling the back for a custom overflow and building a custom sump to fit in the stand. The sump isn't your typical layout so I am looking for some feedback on the design...

In Need of Help LPS dying

For anyone still watching this is was a heat issue. My heater burned out. I replaced it with a Rena heater and filtration. (Both 50% off and work together conveniently). Plus it has a temp warning light. It starts blinking if the temp is wrong... Corals are starting to come back to life and my...

In Need of Help LPS dying

I believe this is a temperature issue. For some reason my heater is working but not disbursing the heat enough. I have a 250w Stealth and its set at 82, yet the tank is at about 70. I turned up the temp to see if it will come up, otherwise maybe this heater is just burning out and its time for a...
