    Dragonets and BioCubes

Thanks so much, this is incredibly helpful! I totally agree, making my own food was always the game plan. I think variety is important to help keep nutrition complete, plus the ingredients in some premade fish foods make my eyebrows go up. Corn? Soy? I'm not sure that is stuff fish ought to be...

    Dragonets and BioCubes

Thank you, Chain! I definitely want an ORA dragonet in part to support aquaculturing and in part because I couldn't imagine a wild-caught having a chance in a biocube. How old are your oldest captive bred mandarins to date? I worry that although they can eat frozen food, that to maintain health...

    Dragonets and BioCubes

I am thinking of starting up a 14g biocube with some soft coral and one fish: an ORA tank-raised spotted dragonet. I'd convert part of the filter system into a refugium, but even so, I'm guessing I'll need to be growing copepods in a separate tank and adding them to the biocube regularly for the...

Upgrade suggestions / things that need fixing

I have a Macintosh computer that runs Mac OS X 10.6.3 (Snow Leopard) and I use Firefox as my main browser. For some reasons, lately when I try to open the Saltwater.com forum in Firefox, I get an error page, instead. It says: Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not...

    Sump! (My first DIY)

Thanks, everyone, for the comments! The middle divider in the bubble trap is 1.5 inches above the bottom (that's why it's taller than the other two). The baffle for the refugium may be too tall. I'll find out when I leak test. The plumbing will have an return pump pipe with an offshoot pipe with...

    Sump! (My first DIY)

Well, it's not pretty, but I think it'll do the job. It's a 30 gallon long. Based on one of melev's designs, the left side's for the skimmer, the right side's the refugium and the center is the return chamber. Leak testing will be tomorrow or Friday.

I have actually been told that basslets like the royal gramma will bully firefish. You might need to pick one or the other of them. :/

I believe it's pronounced coal-ay, (rhymes with olé).
