Im going to start either a 40 or 29 gallon reef tank. Will I need a sump? Give me at least 2 reasons if i should other than for a refugium, hiding equipment and for extra water volume.

Ive been looking around for corals to buy and i really want to buy a candycane coral. This website said that its care level is moderate. Some other places said it was a beginner coral. Could I keep even if i was a beginner.
I just started topping off because i had to get rid of my glass top. How do other people top off. I am afraid of killing corals because of the mixing water in the tank. If you dont have a sump where would you top off in the tank?
I was thinking about setting up a cheap refugium and I know that some macroalgae need to be dosed with iron. If i use nutrient rich water like tap water would i need to dose?

If it stays below 5ppm at all times you are doing good and can start to add some easy corals. So test it before you do your water change and see what you get.
