Yea I kind of thought that too about the bacteria but isn't there enough rock in freshwater to have a huge surface area for it? I have a canister he can use but then won't we eventually enter a nitrate issue?

Don't Feel too bad I have a 90 gal mixed reef really loaded , fuge with cheato, skimmer , carbon blahblah and am still reading 10ppm on mine. Everything Lives grows so I gave up on the 0 mark way too much hassle for what little problems it will cause.

Yep Oceanic , went from I/O reef crystals and I have yet to have to dose anything.. with I/O I was having to dose everyday.

I swapped from Reef Crystals to Oceanic , I got tired of trying to get my Cal up with reef crystals.. So far 3 months in everything is looking better color wise and growing much better with Oceanic than with -- and my Cal has hung steady around 450 :)

yea mine defiantly loves seaweed, the foxface does too also he love the harki algea pellets the bigger ones that sink fast.
