I have two 250watt hqi oceanlight pendants and want to add some supplement actinics and would like to hear your opinions. After all my research, I just keep tossing 2 things back and forth. Either a tek 60" 2-80 watt t5 or a 72" vho 2 bulb retrofit with uri bulbs(so I don't need reflectors)...

oceanic ph= 8.5 alk= 3.0 cal= 450-500 mag= 1380 no3= 0 My IO I used before was low on all these, but I did get 0 nitrate. I also used Reef crystals, but I believe oceanic is better.

magnesium too low? I used instant ocean for some time and had a batch that the mag was way too low and I could never get my calcium above 300. It wasn't 120, but all these may have a combined influence on calcium.

I have never been able to keep it alive long, I just assume it is due to having clean tank water. I have over lbs. of live rock, euro-reef/ASM style diy skimmer, algae scrubber, etc..

Knowing there is no formula for such things. How many fish should could would you stock to create a more hospitable envoronment for sps in a 125?

I have 2 250w hqi ballast de and just have to retrofit the 220w of pc. Haven't had the time to add them to my hood. Everything else is okay and I have/ will have enough light. Just don't want to feed the tank and still want to add more diversity.

how do you control the flow. If the valve is on the output side, I would close down the output flow till water starts shooting into the collection cup then open it just enough to stop from filling it with water. Or if the valve is on the intake side it will just slow down the water flow and...

there are many that are almost unkillable, but they are also hard to keep contained without it spreading(kenya tree for example). I have a toadstool, cabbage and toadstool and all are very hardy.
