From my experience, they are hard to keep and have a very big miss ratio to hit on survival. From what I've read, they seem to like "dirtier" water but I'm sure someone will chime in. goodluck! they are really nice looking corals,

I cant speak for you but I would definitely make the move. I love my 180 and if I knew I wouldn't have to move it somewhat soon I would have gotten even bigger. Youll need a lot of sand and some of the sand from your 55 at first to get it moving and I'd just mix up a whole new batch of SW then...

I kind of agree with going 3-250 watt but I can already tell I may have heat issues this summer and the energy consumption of the fixture now is considerably more than my 4 x 110 watt VHO over my 75 I had before this 180. There are times when I think I would like to place an SPS on the sand but...

Mine is the outer orbit 3x150 and 8 39watt t-5 Ilike it but so hard to figure out a canopy for it. I have the mounting cables but it isn't a great option for me.

I have a moderatly stocked mixed reef in a 180 and my current old skimmer isn't cutting it. I don't have a lot to spend but I want the best for the cash or used even. Any suggestions? Derrick

Awesome tank! WOW. I'd really like to have one myself but my 180 is sometimes a pain to clean and maintain. I'd hire a homeless man to clean it! after thorough training and such of course....

Why trash the sand if it's the same type of sand you'll be using again. just rins it out really well and it'll work just like the dead rock you'll be using. all you need to do it seed it. Congratz on the tank though! Thats really close to how I got my 180.

That sucks! I would guess you should lower the water level past the point of the leak (possibly relocate the living things temporarily) then seal is with aquarium silicone and allow it to cure. I'm sure some with experience doing this may have some better tips. Good Luck

Peter, I think it would be personal pref. I like the look of both but the bow front is generally a little more expensive for a litle smaller tank in comparison.

Good luck with it! I'm still working a little bit on placement and scaping but so far so good. It's a good size to work with but a little deep to work in.
