    Mandarin Goby and Lawnmower Blenny

Plato, you must have a croc skin and no brain to oxygenate. The original question was asking for a compatibility. Go back and read. The answer is simple yes or no. The answer was unsolicited, underestimating and insulting. Grow some brain. [ June 08, 2001: Message edited by: Mithrax ]

    Mandarin Goby and Lawnmower Blenny

Congratulations on your success. My point exactly, people can have these creatures if cared for properly. You can not judge someone's capability without knowing him. You don't jump and say you can't have these fishes because you have questions about them. That doesn't mean you know nothing, does...

    Mandarin Goby and Lawnmower Blenny

Then you were not answering his question. You're giving a lecture that obviously he isn't interested in hearing. A tank that is full of other fish will be difficult to keep stable as the bioload is easily perturbed. [ June 07, 2001: Message edited by: Mithrax ]

    WILL THEY GO?????

You are referring to Amphiprion Ocellaris? I read that the best candidate host anemone for them is the bubble tip anemone. As to who stings who (coral v. anemone), maybe someone can answer that but I think they won't bother each other as they don't belong to the same specie. Most anemones do...

    Sand sifters

It is fascinating to watch how gobies sift the sand. the sand is scooped thru the mouth and exits thru the operculae (yes, they are good sand sifters). Sometimes they also graze on algae. I am worried with the eel. I am not sure if it is safe to the goby to be with the eel. I checked the...

    Price Question

That is expensive. Some of the things included there are worthless like the floating thermometer and the gravel. Shop around and you'll find better deals. Do not rush and you'll save a lot of money.

    Mandarin Goby and Lawnmower Blenny

Owning a mandarin fish is a challenge. Not because you failed others will fail too. These two fishes can co-exist as I mentioned. They have different dietary requirements. Lawnmower blennies are mostly vegetarians, they prefer green algae (Note: they are not the same as scooter blennies)...

    Blenny died...please help.

Sounds like a bacterial infection to me. Freshwater fishes suffer from this more often the saltwater fish.

    Cheeeesy sump idea.

That's just fine. It is a sump nonetheless. It gives you room for your stuff and an additional total volume of water. You can also use that for adding supplements, replacing evaporated water, temperature regulation, etc.

    Clean-up crew = not

    Hey, that's my line :p

    Clean-up crew = not

Scooter blennies do not eat algae. They feed on small crustaceans like the mandarins. They are quite hard to keep if you don't have many of these tiny crustaceans. Maybe you meant lawnmower blennie which is a true blennie (scooters are dragonets). However, lawnmower blennies (I noticed)prefer...

    Rio Horror Stories?

I have been using rios for years, so far haven't had any (knock on drift wood). When my other pumps failed my rios kept going and going and going. How about the others?

    6line wrass

Yeah, I read that but I wonder how they go about that. My clams (4) retract their mantles and close their shells if anything comes near them or when they detect shadows of fish swimming above.

    Is this true????

I thought the dominant one, which is almost always the bigger of the two, is the male?
