That's fine with me as long as it doesn't kill the trumpet coral. The trumpet doesn't seem to like it very much, and closes up when he's rubbing against it.

Could it be diatoms? Do you have new lights? Newly cycled tank?

Yes, they shed their skin. It shouldn't be a problem. If you don't like it, take it out.

Just mix it into a paste with water and "feed" it to the anemone. It should work fine.

I acclimated 2 new percs today, and the larger of the 2 immediately went for my trumpet coral. I've never heard of them using the trumpet coral as a host. I've got 3 big green hairy mushrooms in the tank a little lower down that I thought they would take to. Is there any harm in letting him...

I hope this tank was used as a saltwater setup and not freshwater. Copper could be an issue.

Personally, I'd get one or the other. You'll just be waiting for the problems to arrive otherwise. You put so much time and effort into your setup, why risk it? JMHO

Oh, I'm so sorry about your grandfather. And about your tank. Your tank will recover, even if you lose a few things this go around. It's probably more traumatic because of losing your grandfather. You got a double whammy today. Sorry for your losses. :nope:

I used one of the grow lights from home depot. It's a 120 watt bulb screwed into the clip on. My caulerpa doubled in about 2 weeks time. I had to change to a smaller bulb, though because it kept my tank at about 84 degrees when I left it on. I run an ecosystem, so I need to leave my light on...

Oh, and the lady who gave me the overflow used this same tube on her 125 with an 800 gph pump. Wouldn't a smaller U tube slow the flow down?

IT's some new fangled pump...lol. It's called a lifeguard quietone. Never heard of it either, but it's what dh brought home. It's the 4000 model. Use it wet or dry...supposed to be 1017 gph. See, I ran our old 55 gallon the way I wanted to, and he has a friend who uses ecosystem, and swears...
